Grande Dixence Dam Hotel Valais
The Hôtel du Barrage is a traditional Swiss hotel located at an altitude of 2,160 metres at the foot of the Grande Dixence dam, the highest gravity dam in the world. Overlooking the Val d'Hérens in the Valais, it is renowned for its high-altitude restaurant, its panoramic view over the valley and its 60 rooms of various categories. This historic building, dating from the 1950s, was used as accommodation for the workers involved in the construction of the dam, before being transformed into tourist accommodation.
